Contrary to popular belief, you can maintain casual chic style in cocktail attire. The trick is to avoid head-to-toe formal, and mix upscale with down-to-earth.
Today, I've assembled items that I consider cocktail attire, but still have casual chic style.
1. Little Black Dress with Lace Details
You can't go wrong with little black dresses, but one with lace details is more suitable for cocktail. I like the one belowbecause it has a simple silhouette, which offers a casual vibe, but has a lace back that dresses it up at the same time.

2. Solid Top with Sequined Skirt
When a very down-to-earth - and almost boring - solid top pairs with a flashy sequined skirt, a beautiful contrast is born.
The beaded sequined skirt below, especially with the relaxed tee, is a fantastic example of what I mean.

3. Printed Sweater Dresses
Bold prints are trendy right now. They are daring, slimming, and bare a lot of personality.
The chevron-printed dress below is a fantastic choice because it's easy-going, but looks sexy with its leg-baring length.

4. Light-weight Blouse over Dark Skinnies
I like light-weight blouses because they are flow-y and look relaxed, but are still considered dressed up.
A color-blocked button up blouse, like the one below, is a fantastic choice for cocktail attire. I think it would look great with the black skinny pants below, and I'd leave it un-tucked for a casual effect.

5. Sexy Bodycon Dress
My motto has always been: if you've got it, flaunt it. And if you've got the body for a bodycon dress, like the sexy cobalt bodycon with mid section cut out below, then flaunt it you should.
